NO WAY TO TREAT A CHILD

JVP Action is fighting Israel’s mistreatment and torture of Palestinian children in military prisons by supporting legislation to ensure no US military aid funds their imprisonment.

Since the year 2000, an estimated 10,000 Palestinian children between the ages of 12 and 17 have been detained, prosecuted, and incarcerated by the Israeli military in the occupied West Bank.

Almost half of these children are dragged from their homes in the middle of the night by armed soldiers. They face verbal abuse, humiliation, intimidation, and physical violence. These children are interrogated without family or lawyers present in an effort to generate forced confessions justifying their detention for months on end. This has been going on for decades, and it’s only getting worse.

Judaism recognizes that the wellbeing of society as a whole is determined by our treatment of children, and that all human beings are made in divine image. From the US to Israel/Palestine, we will not abide the brutalization and caging of children, and we demand that Congress say the same.

Join Jewish leaders in telling Congress that we refuse to fund Israel’s military detention and torture of Palestinian children.

Ask your Representative to cosponsor the “Promoting Human Rights for Palestinian Children Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act” (H.R. 2407), which would prohibit any US aid from being used to mistreat Palestinian children in Israeli military detention.
